Standing Indian Mountain

Shortly thereafter, I was approaching one of the scenic highlights of this hike... Standing Indian Mountain.  There was a side trail that led to the summit.  It offered a superb view of the Georgia Blue Ridge that I had already hiked.

Cherokee legends holds that a bolt of lightning struck there, killing a broad of monstrous creatures that had plagued the people and leaving the mountain top bald.  A warrior standing nearby was also turned to stone.

As you can see from the pictures, it was a beautiful day and I could see for miles.  I sat there for about 10 minutes (all alone) taking it all in.
